As some of you may already know, I have put out a few adult coloring books. I didn’t do this because adult coloring books are trending like crazy right now. They’ve been trending for a while, actually. I created them because I’ve always wanted to do it!
About fifteen years ago, I was in college for graphic design, and at the time, I thought it would be a wonderful idea to create a coloring book for adults, with intricate designs such as Celtic knots and mandalas. However, when I expressed this desire to a couple people, though I did receive some blasé encouragement, I allowed the few naysayers to discourage me, which is totally, one-hundred present, all on me. My bad for not following my instincts, because now they are the height of chicitude (a word I just made up now).
So I did it because I don’t want to look back and say I wish I had…yada, yada, yada. But is the fad at its peak? Are coloring books, like so many other fads, going to fad in popularity soon?
I hope not. Not because I’ve published some adult coloring books, but because I simply love coloring. I’ve visited a few coloring book groups and the comradery, encouragement, and all out positivity is through the roof. Coloring book people are plain wonderful, and just like my romance readers, I hope they just can’t get enough!
